Support and perform applied research using nuclear and other characterization techniques in environmental science, art and archeology, forensic and materials science; develop analytical protocols for authentication, provenance, counterfeiting, and combat illicit trade of cultural heritage objects; characterize counterfeit banknotes and counterfeit drugs, in cooperation with the scientific police and the central bank using nuclear and related techniques.
